School Education Dept. takes stock of long absentees of Class 10 ahead of SSLC exams on April 6

Coimbatore: The School Education Department is working at full pace in listing down the long absentees of Class 10 in schools ahead of the SSLC exams scheduled to commence on April 6.

District Education officials informed that as many as 41,526 students are listed to appear in 157 centres across Coimbatore district for the upcoming SSLC Board exams.

Earlier for the Class 12 Board examination, more than 1000 students were reported absent for subsequent exams. Following this, the Education Department is taking measures to ensure all the 10th-grade students appear for the examination.

In this regard, through the School Management Committee (SMC), the process of identifying long absentees and filing their names in a spreadsheet is in progress. In addition, the teachers are instructed to follow up on the students in case of any other issues and counsel the pupils, assisting them with all possible measures to make them appear for the board examination.

SSLC Board exam question papers have already arrived at the District Education Office on Sunday and have been secured by armed police security. Further activities including seat allocation and other procedures are underway.
